CSTB
Specialized in the evaluation of innovative techniques, CSTB is one of Europe's leading research and evaluation centres. Every year, it issues nearly 600 Technical Assessments (Avis Techniques) and monitors some 1,500 holders of certifications (40% of them in other countries). Involved in the development of the European Union for many years, it is authorized to issue European Technical Approvals and CE labelling. It is represented in European bodies (CEN for standards and EOTA for European Technical Approvals). It is also very active in the harmonization of European standards relating to fields of transversal scope: acoustics, thermal engineering, fire safety. It helped to develop the European fire reaction test, the SBI. It possesses original testing equipment to test the compliance of construction products with European standards. (link to experimental resources) CSTB helps manufacturers to implement quality control measures throughout the European Union, in non-EU European countries and all over the world. On the European market, CSTB adapts its evaluation services to better satisfy the needs of manufacturers relating to the application of the Construction Products Directive (link to www.dpcnet.org). It concludes recognition agreements to promote their export procedures: Germany: CSTB has been approved by DIBt as a testing laboratory, and as a body for the inspection and certification of masonry and brickwork, partitions, thermal insulation materials, layered glass/components for insulating glazing, water distribution/evacuation networks, sanitary appliances. It is authorized to award the "Ü" label. United States: mutual recognition agreement with ICBO ES, the US approval body, concerning tests on anchors.
